MONROE, OH (FOX19) -

The Monroe Police Department is looking into the possibility that a hitchhiker may involved with the murder of Barbara Howe.

Barbara Howe, 86, was found dead in the trunk of her car on Nov. 1 after she had been reported missing earlier that week.

Monroe police want to know if anyone picked up a hitchhiker, saw someone walking or picked up anyone in the Woodridge East Apartment area in Middletown. "This is Monday morning. People are going to work, coming from work," said Lt. Brian Curlis.

Her family has been trying to make sense of the matter. "We are incredibly angry," said Donna Wesselman, Howe's daughter.

Wesselman hasn't had time to grieve and says the hardest part is not having answers.

"The not knowing. And yet I do know when I do find out some answers I'm not sure I'm going to want to hear them," she said.

Wesselman relies on the kind words of others to help her make it through the day. She never knew her mother meant so much to so many people.

"It's just a bad dream that I'm still wanting to wake up from," said Wesselman.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.

Anyone with tips that can help in the investigation can call 513-539-9234 or 513-360-2211.
