CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The outcome of the Cincinnati Streetcar Project could have an impact on the Cincinnati mayoral race.
Mayoral candidate John Cranley held a news conference on Wednesday to renew his opposition for the project.
"Enough is enough. The city has already wasted millions of
dollars on the streetcar. There's no money to complete the project. The city is
talking about laying off police and firefighters. It's time to say ‘no more' to
the streetcar," Cranley argued.
Last December, Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls announced her candidacy for mayor.
Qualls has been a known supporter of the Cincinnati Streetcar Project, also winning the endorsement of current Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, who believes she is the best candidate to handle the city's future challenges.
"Roxanne has never flinched when it comes time to make the tough decisions. She's kept her eye on a powerful vision for the future which include the Banks, Fountain Square, Washington Park, and Over-the-Rhine. She is leading Cincinnati into a growing vibrant place," said Mallory, following Qualls' decision to run.
Current Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory's term ends in 2013.
